  • What is rongoā Māori?

    Rongoā Māori is the traditional Māori system of healing that includes the use of native plants, mirimiri, karakia, and holistic well-being practices passed down through generations.

  • Who are your services for?

    Our wānanga is open to anyone with a genuine interest in learning about Rongoā Māori, whether you are a beginner or have some experience. It is especially beneficial for those wanting to reconnect with nature, whakapapa, and traditional healing practices.

  • Do I need prior knowledge or experience?

    No prior knowledge is required. Our wānanga is designed to cater to all levels, from beginners to those who may have some knowledge of Rongoā Māori.

  • Who are the facilitators?

    The wānanga is led by experienced practitioners who have spent years learning from kaiako across Aotearoa and are passionate about sharing Rongoā Māori within our Kahungunu community.

  • Do you teach mirimiri or romiromi?

    Kāo, we teach plant medicine and all the facets belonging to that world.

  • Can I do a payment arrangement?

    Yes, but only for the Full weekend wānanga. A non-refundable deposit of 20% is required to secure your place in the wānanga. Contact us on the form below so that we can help you organise a payment arrangement.

  • What is the terrain like at Mohi Bush?

    Mohi Bush offers a range of walking tracks, most of which are flat and easy to navigate. However, please be prepared to walk and stand for up to one or two hours as we wānanga in the ngahere. Please note that the tracks are not wheelchair accessible.

  • What should I bring on our walk into the ngahere?

    Sturdy, comfortable footwear for walking in the ngahere, warm clothing to stay comfortable in changing weather, your medication, a water bottle and a pen and paper for notes.

  • .... But what if it rains?

    Your safety is our top priority. If you’re booked for a Mohi Bush tour and the weather isn’t suitable, we’re happy to offer a full refund or transfer your booking to another date.

    If you’re attending the full weekend wānanga, we have a beautiful area on the property that we can explore for plant identification, weather permitting. Please bring a raincoat and gumboots just in case. However, in keeping with tikanga, we won’t be harvesting during wet conditions.

  • Are bedding and towels provided for the Full weekend wānanga?

    Yes Wairunga cottages provide these. Feel free to bring your own blanket, but it is quite warm there with a fireplace and heaters.

  • Can I bring my children?

    Our wānanga are designed for adults, however, if you have rangatahi who are genuinely interested in learning they are more than welcome to register.

    For the Mohi Bush tour, tamariki under 4 can attend free of charge, but please note the tracks are not suitable for pushchairs.

Terms of service

  • Refunds

    There is a 20% non-refundable fee once you have made your booking. Please ensure you are able to attend before booking a spot. If you give a minimum of 14 days’ notice before the due date of your service, the remaining payment will be refunded. If your service is due to start within 14 days we are unable to offer you a refund.

  • Transfer and credits

    If you cannot attend, you may transfer your booking to someone else. This option is only available if you have given a minimum of 14 days notice.

    In special circumstances, we may offer a credit towards a future wānanga instead of a refund. This option is only available if there are planned wānanga, they are not fully booked and you have given a minimum of 14 days notice.

  • Wānanga cancellations by Te Ara Rongoā

    If we need to cancel or reschedule a wānanga, participants will be offered a full refund or the option to transfer to a future date.
