Please note that I am not ACC registered, and at this stage, it’s not a direction we’re looking to take. We appreciate your understanding.

Face-to-face consultations are encouraged whenever possible, as it allows for a deeper connection and more personalised care.

If you are outside of Hawke’s Bay, we kindly encourage you to seek out trusted rongoā Māori practitioners local to your area, so you can receive the best possible on going support. However, if local support isn’t available, you are welcome to book an online consultation.

Rongoā Māori is a traditional Māori healing practice governed by indigenous knowledge systems and applied in a holistic, professional, and culturally sound environment. It exists for the wellbeing of whānau, hapū, iwi, and the wider community.

A wide range of rongoā are incorporated as medicinal taonga, supporting individual and their wider connections.

Rongoā Māori recognises that wellbeing is not isolated to physical symptoms alone and that healing is approached as a process of alignment to your spiritual, mental and physical self — rather than simply addressing illness.

Initial consultations can take up to 60 minutes. This allows time to explore your health history, current concerns, and overall wellbeing in a holistic way.

Follow-up consultations are usually up to 30 minutes and focus on reviewing your progress, adjusting your treatment plan if needed, and providing ongoing support.

The initial consultation is a dedicated time for whakawhanaungatanga. A chance for us to connect and build our relationship, an important foundation for healing.

We take a look at your hauora, then we design a treatment plan for improvement.

During this session, you can expect:

• A safe and confidential space

• A gentle assessment of your current health and wellbeing

• Discussion of goals

• Recommendations which may include rongoā, lifestyle support, collaboration with other healers, or ongoing care

From this foundation, we can create an individualised plan that aligns with your needs and supports your journey forward.

The number of sessions varies depending on your individual needs. This will be discussed with you during your consultation.

Initial consultation: $90
Follow-up consultation: $60
Onsite treatment: $75

Your rongoā Māori practitioner will tell you if oniste treatment is part of your treatment plan.

If you are returning to collect a top-up of your existing rongoā treatment plan, there is no consultation fee — you will only be charged for the cost of the rongoā.

Cancellation Policy:
Your appointment time is reserved especially for you. If you do not attend and have not made prior contact, the booking will be treated as a no-show and is non-refundable.

In most cases, yes. Your ringa raupā will discuss your current treatments and medications with you to ensure your rongoā plan is safe and appropriate. Any considerations will be explained clearly before your treatment plan is finalised.

Āwhina is aligned with Te Kāhui Rongoā Trust. The standards followed are those developed by Ngā Ringa Whakahaere o Te Iwi Māori (1999), which are currently under review.

Practice is guided by tikanga, professional integrity, and cultural safety.
